1992
In 1992, a group of 12 college students came together to start Green Vision. Their goal to achieve “Environmental Awareness and a Greener City” influenced a green movement in their home town – Visakhapatnam. That singular approach of adding value to the environment remains the main focus of this registered not-for-profit organization driven by the not-so-young-now college friends.
2000 – 2020
Through the past three decades, Green Vision worked to raise awareness and build engagement amongst school and college students and local communities, especially the youth. It has become the city’s most active non-governmental organization that helped make the city and adjacent towns greener. Green Vision has also taken up several impactful programs including garbage disposal awareness, rainwater harvesting, vermicomposting and rural development. In the last two decades they also raised awareness around healthcare issues.
In 2019 the founding members met the on-ground team that executed several Green Vision projects over the past two decades. They discussed key issues pertaining to climate change and drafted two significant environmental programs for implementation – Project 2020
